Music Review – Jon Sebastian

Jon Sebastian “Goodbye God” (Viper Bite)

Jon Sebastian is the lead man of The Color Wheels who I reviewed late last year. The group’s sound consisted of glorious power pop mixed with the thoughtfulness of a band like The Promise Ring or EARLY Weezer. Jon Sebastian’s debut Goodbye God does not fall far from that particular tree. Perhaps a little more serious and reserved at times, Goodbye God manages to make the same lasting impression as The Color Wheels did. It is all proof of the endearing quality of Sebastian’s songwriting. The man simply has a knack for the perfect pop hook. Throw in a keen sense of humor and you have a recipe for subtle pop brilliance. At only 10 songs and 22 minutes you better get ready to hit that repeat button over and over.

Genre: Indie/Pop/Rock

RIYL: The Color Wheels, Weezer, The Promise Ring
