Pompeii‘s 2006 record, Assembly, is one that has steadily grown on me over the months. This is not really a style I am drawn to a lot but Pompeii rope me in with a tremendous consistency. The band’s strong songwriting is showcased by an instrumental depth rarely seen in indie pop/rock. The addition of a full-time cello player only adds to the band’s range. While I do hear a little Sunny Day Real Estate at times this is mainly for fans of bands like Death Cab For Cutie and Stars Of Track And Field.
