Versoma…

Versoma “Life During Wartime” (Robotic Empire)

BUY HERE!

Versoma comes from some great pedigree. Members of the band have played in or still play in bands like Orchid, Hot Cross, Lickgoldensky and Anodyne. You would think that coming from those bands Versoma would just be yet another screamy hardcore band and nothing else. Well, that’s really only half true. While Life During Wartime does not completely disown the band members’ past or present, it is an interesting look into what has influenced the band outside of the punk/hardcore scene. There are definite nods towards many genres of rock. However, even when the band is pummeling you they manage to sneak in the subtle influence of the shoeagazing variety. Versoma have created an impressive piece of music here…call it aggresive shoegazing rock. Life During Wartime is a diverse and rewarding listen. The EP is an impressive and passionate journey that I hope will move the band past side-project status in the near future.

RIYL: Hot Cross, My Bloody Valentine, Black Flag
