Eric Bachmann…

Eric Bachmann is ditching the Crooked Fingers moniker and will release his first album under his own name, titled To the Races, August 22 on Saddle Creek.

Bachmann released four albums as Crooked Fingers, including last year’s stunning Dignity and Shame, which earned him quite the reputation as a fine singer/songwriter.

According to a recent press release, To the Races is “as skeletally sparse as it is insightful and restrained.” So, basically nothing like his work with Crooked Fingers. But maybe a little bit.

Bachmann self-recorded the album at a hotel in remote location of Buxton, NC.

“Joined on only a few songs by Devotchka's violinist Tom Hagerman and Austin, TX's Miranda Brown on backing vocals, To the Races, is a stunning collection of songs examining both self-imposed isolation and the search for human connection,” say his publicist.

– This new album should be great. This is actually Bachmann's second album under his own name. He released "Short Careers" via Merge in 2001. Eric Bachmann is a legend. Everything he has done from Archers Of Loaf to Barry Black to Crooked Fingers has been brilliant.
